Child Education Intern (Fall)

During this 12-week summer internship, the intern will split his/her time between the case management division and the employment services division of the organization. Under case management, the intern will assist Canopy staff in conducting intake and exit interviews with refugee clients, taking clients to appointments, helping clients apply for documentation and benefits and keeping up client case files. Under employment services, the intern will assist Canopy staff in updating our employment training curriculum, teaching employment classes and helping employed clients find job upgrades.

Assists Community Outreach Coordinator with educating the community about refugee resettlement, advocating for the needs of refugees and recruiting and training volunteers. Assists in planning and coordinating quarterly community outreach events.

Oversees childcare for refugee children while parents attend their weekly Cultural Orientation class. Plans activities, games and lessons that will facilitate cultural learning and English practice. Manages other volunteers and reports any issues to volunteer coordinator.
