What We Carry – Fayetteville Public Library Opening

“What We Carry is a visual story of the humanity of a people displaced, in search of belonging”.

The project consists of 11 watercolor, still-life paintings of objects owned by local refugees and immigrants. These objects are items each person deemed significant to carry with them on his or her journey to America. Each painting will accompany a video interview of the participant sharing their journey and hope for their new life.

The goal is to bring the NWA community closer to our refugee community, to bring awareness, and spotlight Canopy NWA.

A portion of this project is funded by Artists 3 60, a program of Mid-America Arts Alliance, made possible through philanthropic support from the Walton Family Foundation. This project is also supported through generous, local faith organizations and private donors. (Per our discussion, let me know if Canopy is open to being a fiscal sponsor.)

We invite you to this special opening at the Fayetteville Public Library
